A courtroom was left completely stunned after a man burst into laughter the moment he was sentenced to life in prison.
The 29-year-old, identified as Calvin Brooks, had just been found guilty of first-degree murder when the judge read out his punishment — but instead of showing remorse, Brooks started laughing uncontrollably.
Witnesses said his laughter echoed through the courtroom, leaving everyone frozen. “It wasn’t a normal laugh,” one reporter said. “It was cold — almost like he thought it was funny.”
Judge Harold Bennett paused the sentencing and warned Brooks to compose himself, but the convict kept smirking and chuckling as deputies moved in to escort him out.
Prosecutors called the behavior “disturbing” and said it showed Brooks had “no sense of guilt or humanity.”
Video footage of the moment has since gone viral online, with people calling it one of the “creepiest courtroom reactions ever.”
One commenter wrote: “That laugh gave me chills,” while another said, “He’s not even human at that point.”
Brooks is now serving his life sentence at a state correctional facility — reportedly still showing little emotion about his conviction.
