A sweet 67-year-old gran from Newcastle got the fright of her life this Halloween — and the internet cannot stop laughing.
Margaret Thompson says she “nearly keeled over” after knocking on her neighbour’s door to drop off biscuits… only for a motion-sensor zombie prop to scream and leap out of the porch.
CCTV caught the entire thing: Margaret steps up with her tin of shortbread, gives a gentle knock — and within seconds, a life-size ghoul springs forward, howling like something out of The Exorcist.
“She screamed, dropped the biscuits, and ran faster than she has since 1982,” joked her son, who shared the footage online. “Mum’s fine now, but she says she’s never trick-or-treating again — or baking for the neighbours.”
The clip has already racked up over 4 million views, with comments like:
- “Granny went from 0 to Olympic sprinter real quick 💀”
- “That ghost’s lucky she didn’t swing her handbag.”
- “Protect Margaret at all costs 🫶”
Margaret later laughed about the whole thing, saying:
“They got me good. I almost needed a new heart and a new batch of biscuits.”
Moral of the story? Scare responsibly — especially if your neighbours bake for you.
